If you've been waiting for the right moment to subscribe to Krotos Studio, this is it.

The Stop Waiting Sale is on. Until Sunday 7 June, all three Krotos Studio Yearly subscriptions are discounted — including the deepest annual saving we've offered on Krotos Studio Max outside of Black Friday.
This post is the plain version: what's on sale, what each tier actually does, who each one is for, and how to decide which fits the work you do.
Sale prices lock in at signup. If you start your free trial today, you'll be billed at the sale price when your trial converts — provided you're still within the sale window.
If you've landed here from a search and you're not sure what Krotos Studio is, the short version: it's a performative sound design app. You pick a preset — a footstep, an ambience, a whoosh, a creature vocal, a piece of Foley — and you shape the sound in real time using XY pads, instead of digging through folders of WAV files looking for the right one.
When you're happy with the take, you drag it straight into your timeline. Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Pro Tools, Reaper, Logic, Ableton, Nuendo, CapCut — anything that accepts an audio file. It works as a standalone app, a VST/AU/AAX plugin, and increasingly as a direct integration with the major NLEs and DAWs.
The whole thing is built around a different premise to most sound libraries: instead of buying 40GB of WAVs and hoping the right one is in there, you generate what you need in the moment. That premise is what makes the sale offer matter — you're not just paying for a library, you're paying for a workflow that pays back the price difference within the first few projects.

This is the part most people get stuck on, so here's the plain breakdown.
Krotos Studio is the entry point. You get hundreds of presets across every major sound effect category — footsteps, Foley, ambiences, whooshes, transitions, weapons, vehicles, creatures, impacts. New content drops every month and stays in your account. Everything is 100% royalty-free for commercial use.
Studio is the right tier if: you're a video editor, content creator, or YouTuber who wants better sound effects without learning sound design from scratch. You want the performative workflow, the monthly content drops, and the ability to drag finished sounds straight into your edit. You're not building your own libraries — you just want better-than-stock SFX, fast.

Pro is what most working sound designers actually use. Everything in Studio, plus the unlock that matters: you can import your own sound files. Up to 4,000 of your own sounds per preset, which means the years of field recordings, sample packs, and personal library you've been hoarding can finally live inside a performable interface.
You also get Edit Mode — full layer control, parameter access, and the ability to replace or swap individual elements within any preset. If you've ever loaded a Krotos preset and thought "I want this, but with my own bass layer underneath," Pro is the tier that lets you do that.
Pro is the right tier if: you're a sound designer, post-production professional, game audio developer, or composer who has your own libraries and wants the speed of Krotos Studio with the flexibility to use your own assets. This is the tier we built for people whose work depends on the tool, not people who use it occasionally.

Max is everything. Krotos Studio Pro, plus the full suite of Krotos plugins — Dehumaniser 2, Reformer Pro, Weaponiser, Igniter, Concept 2 — plus every Krotos-designed sound library. Over 60,000 sounds across cinematic, mechanical, creature, Foley, ambience, and combat content.
Bought separately, the plugin suite alone is over $2,000. The library catalogue adds thousands more. Max collapses all of it into a single yearly subscription at half price for the duration of this sale.
Max is the right tier if: you're working on professional projects that need the full Krotos toolkit — film, broadcast TV, AAA games, high-end advertising, trailer work. Or you're a smaller studio that wants every Krotos tool available without the up-front cost of buying them as perpetual licences. At $500/year during this sale, Max is currently cheaper than buying the plugin suite outright.

A few specific use cases, because "performative sound design app" doesn't mean much until you see what it replaces.
You can use Krotos Studio as a standalone alongside Premiere and drag finished sounds directly into your timeline. We're also in early access for a Video-to-Sound integration in Premiere Pro that turns the import step into a click. If you currently use stock SFX packs or YouTube's free audio library, Krotos Studio is the upgrade.
Krotos Studio runs as a plugin in the Fairlight tab, or as a standalone app you drag from. The performative workflow is particularly useful in Resolve because the Fairlight tab's sound design tooling is, frankly, basic. Krotos Studio fills the gap that the native Foley tools leave. If you cut in Resolve, this is one of the highest-leverage upgrades you can make to your post workflow.
The Pro and Max tiers are where this comes alive. Build out your performances in Krotos Studio Pro, export the rendered audio, and pipe it into your middleware. Variation is the killer feature for game audio — and Pro lets you create dozens of variants from a single preset in minutes. Max takes it further with the full plugin suite, particularly Weaponiser for combat sounds and Igniter for vehicles.
This is the segment Krotos Studio was built around. Drag-and-drop into Premiere or Resolve, royalty-free for monetised content, and the kind of sound quality that makes your videos sound bigger than your subscriber count suggests. The Studio tier at $6.99/month during the sale is the lowest barrier to entry we've offered — less than a Spotify subscription, for a tool that meaningfully changes how your content sounds.
A growing use case. Krotos Studio's ambience and transition libraries are excellent for narrative podcasts, audio dramas, and voiceover-led YouTube content. If you've been hand-editing background ambiences from stock packs, Studio's AI Ambience Generator alone will save you hours per episode.
Honest answer: because the most common reason people don't subscribe isn't price. It's the assumption that the right moment is coming later.
Black Friday is six months away. The free version covers a lot, but it has limits. The next project is going to need sound, and waiting for a sale isn't going to make the work easier.
Sound design is one of those skills where the tooling either accelerates you or it doesn't, and the difference compounds across a year of work — not across a single session.
If you've been waiting for a sign, this is the sign.

Studio is the entry tier with our preset library and monthly content drops. Pro adds the ability to import your own sound libraries and full Edit Mode. Max includes Pro plus our full plugin suite (Dehumaniser 2, Reformer Pro, Weaponiser, Igniter, Concept 2) and every Krotos-designed sound library — over 60,000 sounds in total.
