Job Description

We are looking for a Software Engineer to own the product engineering layer of Krotos products.

You will work alongside the Machine Learning part of the team, who own model development, experimentation, and ML infrastructure. Your focus will be the surrounding product engineering: Python services, React-based applications, orchestration, processing pipelines, integrations, reliability, and delivery.

This role suits an engineer who enjoys turning promising technology into stable, maintainable software that can ship and scale.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain Python applications and processing pipelines for Video to Sound and related products
• Develop React-based web interfaces for product and internal workflows
• Connect model outputs to audio generation, rendering, assembly, and user workflows
• Productionise ML research
• Develop and maintain APIs, services, integrations, and automation
• Improve system reliability, observability, testing, and maintainability

The opportunity

We are looking for a Lead Creative who combines excellent taste with commercial judgement and strong execution. You will own the creative quality and consistency of Krotos across campaigns, paid advertising, social, YouTube and key web experiences—and you will personally make much of that work.

This is not a role for someone who only creates attractive assets or only directs other people. You will diagnose communication problems, develop concepts, produce and ship work, measure how it performs, and turn what works into reusable systems that help the whole team move faster.

The role sits primarily across brand, growth and web design. You will collaborate with Product on product and UI work, but this is not a full-time product-design position.

What you will own

1. Creative direction and brand

• Set and uphold a clear, distinctive quality bar across paid ads, organic social, YouTube, email visuals, product launches and the website.
• Turn the existing brand direction into practical guidance: real examples, references, templates, motion principles, copy and visual rules, and clear do/don’t guidance.
• Protect trust with both of our core audiences—professional sound designers and filmmakers/video editors—while helping Krotos enter a much larger market.
• Give precise, useful creative feedback to colleagues and freelancers, and make final work better without becoming the approval bottleneck.

2. High-performing campaign creative

• Develop strong concepts, hooks and visual stories for product launches, feature releases, offers, influencers and always-on acquisition.
• Personally produce static and motion ads, short product videos, social assets, YouTube thumbnails and adaptable campaign systems.
• Translate accurate product UI and technical features into clear customer benefits that are understandable quickly—even when viewed without sound.
• Create variants deliberately, learn from existing winners and use performance evidence to decide what to refine, stop or scale.

3. Web design and conversion

• Design and improve high-priority landing pages, homepage sections, pricing and product pages, with strong hierarchy, trust, product clarity and mobile execution.
• Start with the audience, job to be done and conversion problem—not aesthetics alone.
• Create high-fidelity, interactive concepts using Figma and modern AI/no-code prototyping tools so ideas can be tested and handed over quickly.
• Work with engineering and external web specialists through clear specifications, organised files, responsive states, QA and launch checks.
• Use data, customer feedback and observed behaviour to form conversion hypotheses and evaluate results.

4. A scalable, AI-enabled creative system

• Build modular templates, reference libraries, prompt/context packs, briefing checklists, feedback vocabulary, approval rules and QA gates.
• Use generative AI and creative automation to increase exploration and production speed while retaining human judgement, originality, brand safety, accuracy and licensing discipline.
• Enable marketers and trusted freelancers to produce strong repeatable assets independently, while keeping strategic or high-risk work under appropriate review.
• Document workflows clearly and train others to use them.

5. Reliable execution and collaboration

• Turn an imperfect brief into clarity quickly: confirm the audience, objective, exact deliverables, owner, deadline, dependencies, approver and definition of done.
• Prioritise by business impact and learning value, not by which task is most creatively interesting.
• Commit to delivery dates, manage your own work visibly and raise risks early—with a proposed solution and impact on timing.
• Deliver launch-ready, organised and editable files, with correct formats, naming, product UI, usage rights and handover notes.
• Manage specialist freelancers when extra capacity or craft is needed, using bounded briefs and clear quality gates.

What success looks like in the first 90 days

• You understand Krotos’s audiences, products, current performance and brand tensions, and can explain the biggest creative opportunities clearly.
• The existing brand direction has become an operational creative system the team can use—not a presentation that sits in a folder.
• At least eight reusable templates or reference packs cover the highest-volume needs across paid, social, YouTube, product video and web.
• At least two other team members can create approved repeatable assets without waiting for you, and routine reviews usually close within two rounds.
• You have shipped at least four clearly defined creative tests across priority channels, documented the baseline, result and learning, and identified at least one promising direction to scale.
• Agreed work is delivered reliably; risks are normally raised at least 48 hours before a deadline rather than after it is missed.
• Your work is visibly improving the inputs it can influence—such as CTR, qualified visits, landing-page conversion, watch time, engagement quality or customer trust.

What we are looking for

Essential

• A strong portfolio showing excellent visual craft across brand, performance creative, motion/video and web—not only one discipline.
• Evidence that your work influenced a commercial or behavioural result. You can explain the problem, baseline, choices, variants, result and learning.
• The ability to personally take work from concept to launch: design, edit, prototype, adapt, export and hand over.
• Strong command of Figma and professional creative tools for image, motion and video production. The exact software matters less than the quality and speed of the output.
• Practical fluency with generative AI and modern prototyping workflows. You know how to move beyond prompting into direction, iteration, quality control and reusable systems.
• A working understanding of growth metrics such as CTR, conversion rate, qualified traffic, watch time and engagement—and the judgement not to optimise a brand into short-term noise.
• Clear written and verbal communication, excellent organisation and dependable remote-working habits.
• Strong attention to product accuracy, responsive design, accessibility, file structure, licensing and final QA.
• Low ego, high ownership: you seek useful feedback, challenge constructively and care more about the outcome than defending your first idea.

Strong advantages

• Experience in a startup, SaaS, subscription or direct-to-consumer environment.
• Experience designing for creator tools, media and entertainment, film/video workflows, audio software or another technical product.
• Hands-on experience with Webflow, Framer, Lovable or similar tools; basic HTML/CSS understanding is helpful.

This is not primarily a dashboard or reporting role.

We want someone who can answer questions such as:

1. Establish One Commercial Truth

Technical Expectations

Strong SQL is mandatory.

You should be comfortable independently querying and validating raw data rather than relying entirely on dashboards.

You do not need to be a data engineer, but you must be technically strong enough to investigate inconsistencies yourself and clearly specify what Engineering needs to fix.

Experience with tools such as BigQuery, Mixpanel, ChartMogul, Chargebee and similar platforms is highly desirable.

We are looking for a Head of Growth who is both strategic and extremely hands-on.

This is not a role for someone who wants to manage agencies, write strategy decks and delegate execution.

1. Growth strategy and prioritisation

Turn company growth objectives into a small number of clear priorities.

You will:

• Identify the biggest constraint in the funnel at any given time.
• Decide which problems are worth solving and which should be ignored.

• Build a clear weekly and monthly growth operating rhythm.
• Create accountability around measurable outcomes rather than marketing activity.

2. Paid acquisition

Own the performance and scaling of our core paid channels.

Initially this means primarily:

• Google

You should understand these channels deeply enough to diagnose performance yourself rather than relying entirely on agencies or specialists.

You will:

• Own CAC and new MRR targets.
• Analyse channel incrementality and spend elasticity.
• Improve conversion tracking and optimisation signals.
• Develop testing strategies across audiences, creative, offers and landing pages.
• Determine when to scale, iterate or kill campaigns.
• Build a repeatable process for discovering new audiences.

3. Creative growth engine

Build a system for producing and testing high-performing creative continuously.

Krotos is a highly visual product. Showing the product solving a real creative problem consistently performs better than abstract advertising.

You will:

• Build a high-velocity creative testing programme.
• Develop hooks, concepts and use cases with the creative team.
• Turn winning concepts into multiple variations.
• Build relationships with external creators and UGC partners where useful.
• Connect creative performance directly to customers and revenue rather than vanity metrics.

4. Website and conversion

Own the commercial performance of the website.

You will continuously improve:

Visitor → Account → Trial → First Meaningful Action → Paid

You should be comfortable:

• analysing behaviour using tools such as Clarity
• writing and testing landing pages
• developing persona-specific journeys
• running A/B tests
• improving mobile conversion
• simplifying pricing and calls to action
• matching ad messaging to landing experiences

You should be willing to build or modify a landing page yourself when that is the fastest way to learn.

5. Activation and product-led growth

Growth at Krotos does not stop when someone starts a trial.

You will work closely with Product to determine what behaviours predict conversion and retention.

You will:

• Improve time-to-value.
• Identify activation bottlenecks.
• Segment onboarding around customer needs.
• Use behavioural data to improve conversion.

You do not need to be a data engineer.

You do need to understand analytics well enough to know when the data is wrong.

You should be able to answer:

“What caused growth to change this week?”

without spending three days reconciling dashboards.

8. Build the growth team

Assess the current team, define what capabilities we actually need and build the right organisation around the growth engine.

We want a small team of excellent operators rather than a large team of narrow specialists.

You should be comfortable:

• coaching people
• setting clear expectations
• identifying capability gaps
• hiring
• using freelancers or agencies when appropriate
• changing responsibilities when something is not working

What success looks like

First 30 days

• Understand the entire Krotos acquisition and conversion funnel.
• Establish trusted growth reporting and baselines.
• Identify the top 3 constraints to growth.
• Establish a weekly experiment and growth review.
• Audit Google, Meta, lifecycle, website and activation.
• Stop low-value activity.
• Launch initial high-confidence experiments.

60 days

• Establish consistent creative and landing-page testing.
• Improve at least one major funnel conversion rate materially.
• Build clear acquisition economics by channel.
• Establish a repeatable paid acquisition testing process.
• Improve lifecycle segmentation and automation.
• Define the activation metric that best predicts paid conversion and retention.

90 days

• Demonstrate a measurable increase in net new MRR.
• Have at least one acquisition engine capable of absorbing materially higher spend while remaining within agreed unit economics.
• Establish a predictable experiment cadence.
• Have a clear roadmap for the next growth constraint.
• Recommend the long-term growth team structure.

The person we’re looking for

You are probably a specialised generalist.

You have an area where you’re exceptional, but you understand the entire growth system.

You should have strong experience across several of:

• Performance marketing
• PLG / SaaS
• Conversion optimisation
• Lifecycle
• Analytics
• Creative strategy
• Landing pages
• Experimentation
• Product growth

You do not need 15 years of experience.

We care much more about whether you have repeatedly made things grow.

You should be able to demonstrate

• Growth you personally contributed to.
• Channels you personally operated.
• Experiments you designed and executed.
• Examples where the data contradicted your initial hypothesis.
• How you diagnosed a growth plateau.
• How you increased spend without destroying unit economics.
• Landing pages or funnels you improved.
• How you use AI to make yourself dramatically more effective.
• How you build systems rather than relying on heroic effort.

What we’re explicitly not looking for

This role is unlikely to work if you:

• primarily manage other marketers
• rely heavily on agencies for execution
• measure success using reach, impressions or content volume
• need a large team before you can make progress
• are uncomfortable with analytics
• have only ever owned one narrow marketing channel
• produce strategy faster than you produce experiments
• wait for perfect information before shipping
