Here’s how we approached the sound design of this high-octane free runner scene

To begin this scene, we started by placing some city ambience sounds into the scene. With this base to the scene in place, we were able to explore the whoosh sounds folder to punctuate the movement of the free runner. Whistles, thwips, and whooshes all helped to convey the action of the free runner. We even included some sounds from combat rifles as they fitted the scene nicely, and as we’ve mentioned before it’s always wise to think outside the box when selecting sounds. For the Foley sounds, we took some boots-on-gravel sounds for the early car park shots and then used running on concrete sounds when the surface in the scene changed.
