September 2023 Update: 13 New Sound Effect Presets & 1.7.2 Update
September 2023 brings the 1.7.2 update to Krotos Studio, plus 13 new sound effect presets to explore and use in your projects, focusing on a cinematic theme. Learn more about this update below!
Introducing the September 2023 Sound Effect Presets:
The September sound effect presets feature a selection of cinematic transitions and impacts, plus more richly detailed ambiences to Krotos Studio's sound collection.
2 Ambience Sound Effect Presets
More versatile & infinitely-generating ambience sound effects have been added to the ambiences category this month:
- Interior Quiet: We bring more room tones to Krotos Studio this week—subtle yet essential interior ambiences featuring vents, fridges, bathrooms and rumble.
- Quiet Village: An idyllic village preset featuring water fountains, church bells, wind in the trees, bird song and more.
1 Weather Preset
Even more choices for rain sound effects in the weather category.
Rain on Surfaces: An essential collection of sounds for many a project. Umbrellas, tin roofs, car windshields, windows and more are pelted with rain to bring depth and realism to your rainy scenes.
10 Cinematic Sound Effect Presets
- Cold Impact: An impact sound effect to make the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end. Cold metallic layers meet with cavernous tails in this powerful punch preset.
- Steel Impact: Lots of destructive layers in this impact preset. Sheet metal, gongs, and springs are tortured and twisted for true cinematic effect.
- Metallic Flurry (transition): An effective transition preset with metallic tonal layers, warm bass and lots of texture.
- Subtle Flow (transition): A stripped-back yet versatile transition preset with airy, tonal, filtered and noisy options. This one is great when your transitions and whooshes don't need too much drama.
- Simple Flutter (transition): Great for fast transitions, with ghostly tones, fast thwips and charismatic spin transitions.
- Howling Call (Transition): More tonal-flavoured transitions featuring low-bowing strings & metallic howls.
- Backdraft Mosquito (Impact): Glitchy hits, mechanical pitched buzzes, squelchy layers and more.
- Guitar Mayhem (Transition / Rise + Hit): This is fun! Chaotic explosions, risers and debris on one X-Y pad meet a metal band on another! full of drum fills and distorted guitar licks.
- Metal Hit (Impact): A Classic stinger impact, perfect for trailers. Bass, impacts, resonances and screeches combine to make this iconic effect.
- Insect Hit (Impact): Another punchy impact effect with a creepy-crawly twist. Listen for the tail on this impact to hear the gross-out shrieks and scuttles of creatures with too many legs for many of our liking.
Note that new presets only apply to subscribers. With the sound effects within Krotos Studio growing every month, there's no better time to upgrade!
What is in the Krotos Studio 1.7.2 Update?
New Sound Effect Preset Notifications
When new sounds are added to Krotos Studio, you can easily see which presets are new and which categories contain these new sounds with a red notification dot.
Complete Visibility of all Factory Content for Free Users
Free users can now see all the factory content (sound effect presets) in their side menu. Click on these presets to be taken to a demo of the preset.
Improved Visibility of Selected Preset
We've improved the presentation of the current preset, meaning you can see which sound is currently loaded more efficiently.
Welcome Screen
The welcome screen now only appears once on your first launch of Krotos Studio.
How to Access the September Content
1. Launch Krotos Studio and click the library icon in the software.
2. Click on the download icon next to September's content and wait for it to complete.
3. After downloading, the new sounds will automatically be added to the Krotos Studio library.
How to Update Krotos Studio Through the Plugin
- Launch Krotos Studio.
- When prompted, follow the on-screen instructions to update to the new version.
- If you don't see the update notification, go to “Check For Updates'' from the menu within the application.
- Click "Download and Run the Installer".
How to Update Krotos Studio Through the Website
- Log in to your account at the Krotos Studio Website and head to your Downloads section.
- Select the macOS or Windows download from your downloads.
- Download the update and run the installer.
- Launch Krotos Studio 1.7.2, click the library button and install your September content directly from within the application.
